Artist Statement

Art is a way of life. It is a way of seeing, a language of speaking. For me, art is a spiritual process by which I communicate. Right now, I am concentrating on the ever-changing, ever-same flow of living water. To invite the viewer to stand knee deep, to live in the pupil of a hawk's eye. It is socially relevent to engage the viewer with our precious and fragile natural world.

Many of my paintings are inspired by peak moments in my life, memories of love and hurt, and relationships. Many of my design choices are intuitive, developing as the picture takes form. Sometimes figures and shapes emerge from the paintings as if having a life of their own.

Mixed media is an extensive part of my work. Found objects have meaning and history,Salvage wood and river rocks represent personal history; we are imperfect, scarred and shaped by life experiences and no two alike, even if made from the same stuff.
