The Memory Root
This painting is finally almost finished! (I've been saying this for a couple of months now) but this time I really am in the final phases. I've been working on this since my Natchitoches days, 2007. I only cut the holes in the canvas recently.
I tell you what though, this painting had taken a looooonnnng time. There are multiple layers, things hidden never again to be revealed, and a complex sparkly surface with puppies!, Fats Domino's piano, catacombs, a stained glass window, and real tree parts.
This stage was several months ago, when I hadn't figured out what to put in the egg yet. There was a creepy little cupie doll, then a creepy japanese figurine, a little boy with an accordian. Mardi Gras trim didn't help, and
finally his head broke off and I had to find something else.
finally his head broke off and I had to find something else.
Here is how it looks today. If you see it in a show somewhere in the future, it may look different. but today I'm saying its ALMOST NEARLY FINISHED.
